The unit specializes in drug safety assessment, pharmacovigilance, and pharmacoepidemiology research. As contact point for pharmacovigilance activities in the Northwest Tuscan area, we coordinate signal analysis, training, and active pharmacovigilance projects funded by AIFA. The unit holds the role of Technical-Scientific and Administrative Support Unit of the CRFV and is part of the training network of the School of Specialization in Pharmacology and Clinical Toxicology at the University of Pisa.

Research areas

Active pharmacovigilance

Detection and reporting of adverse reactions, including the Emergency Department program covering ~50% of AOUP reports.

Pharmacoepidemiology

Study design, management, and interpretation of population-scale drug safety studies, with peer-reviewed international publications.

Signal analysis and training

Coordination of signal detection and training activities for the Tuscan CRFV network.

Eudravigilance and clinical trials

EMA-certified management of pharmacovigilance for UNIPI’s non-profit interventional studies.
